Tue, 30 June 2009 I had a brief discussion with a friend (and legal advisor) recently, and after that discussion I feel I should make a short statement. I often (and always in jest) refer to the backers of the uber-guild Ensidia as terrorists. I would hope everyone is aware that it's just that - a joke. A parody. It's highly doubtful this has any basis in fact, and, of course, I don't have any evidence to make the statement. We at Inside Azeroth pride ourselves on not pulling punches, but I believe this is one I should probably pull. I apologize to the guild and their financial supporters for that statement. Humanity in every corner of the world is threatened by, if not direct victims of, terrorists driven by politics, religion, hatred, or they're just plain not right in the head. While being able to laugh at them helps us as human beings cope with this threat, it doesn't lessen the gravity of pointing a finger at a small group of people and calling them terrorists without any real evidence to prove this. It doesn't mean my ire for this guild has lessened. I still resent the fact that they complain about changes to the game that would effect those of us who can't devote 60+ hours a week to the game and make endgame content a little more accessible. It pisses me off that they scorn the rest of us who don't play at their level. And it still really chaps my hide that they do this in a completely arrogant and elitist fashion, with no apparent regard for "the rest of us". I will continue to sound off against them when they pipe up on these topics, but you won't hear another terrorist joke from me. Please feel free to contact us at insideazeroth@gmail.com if you have a comment on the issue. Steve Hamner Category: general -- posted at: 2:31 PM Comments[0] |
